EYOC Team 2022

The next big event of the international calendar for the Junior Orienteers is the European Youth Orienteering Championships in Hungary on the first weekend in July. Full details of the event are at: https://eyoc2020.hu/ (it was originally the 2020 event, but moved due to Covid)

The team selectors (Ruth Lynam, Mike Long, Steph Pruzina and Darren Burke) met last night in their underground lair and have selected the following team to represent Ireland at this years competition:

• W16: Eve Buckley

• M16: Gerry Browne and Oscar Rowe

• W18: Emily Rowe and Maya Buckley

• M18: Josh Hoare

The team will be accompanied to the event by Caroline Murray and David Masterson. Most of the juniors above were recently on an EYOC training camp in the same area as the competition, so they have a good understanding of the terrain (beautiful beech forest, but very steep!) and lots of maps and video footage to study over the next few weeks.
